Boarding The Red Dragon could not be any easier.

After you have called us for a weather check you will need to check in with our friendly team down on the Main Town Pier at the bottom of the Queenstown Mall 15 minutes before your scheduled flight time.

Our staff on the pier will provide you with life jackets before leading you onto the vessel.

Here you will be met by both Quinn and Gravy and your adventure will get underway.

 TERMS & CONDITIONS 

Queenstown Paraflights is a New Zealand owned and registered company.

The safety of our passengers and their property is important to us and by purchasing a flight or spectator spot with Queenstown Paraflights:

  • Passengers agree that they are carried at their own risk and Queenstown Paraflights will not be liable in any way for any injury incurred as a result of being carried. Passengers should be aware that in New Zealand any claims for personal injury are limited by a government scheme and passengers should obtain their own insurance should they wish to do so.

  • Please advise a member of our staff if you have a physical condition that may affect the enjoyment of or your safety on the flight with us.

  • We suggest that passengers do not take any personal property or equipment in the air, however if passengers choose to do so then this property or equipment is carried at the PASSENGER’S OWN RISK and Queenstown Paraflights will not be liable in any way for any loss to such property or equipment however caused.

  • For the safety and comfort of all passengers all instructions given by the captain and deckhand must be followed and parents/guardians are responsible for ensuring that their children do the same.

CANCELLATION OR REFUNDS

  • We require 24 hours notice for cancellation before the booking departure time to get a full refund, after that a portion or full cost is retained.

  • Trips are weather dependent – our operations can be affected by high winds or swell on the lake, heavy rain or stormy conditions. A full refund can be given for trips cancelled by weather when the cancellation is verified by Queenstown Paraflights.

  • Gift Cards are valid for 24 months from date of purchase.

RESTRICTIONS

  • Weight and restrictions apply

  • Max combined weight is 210kg per flight

  • Minimum weights apply with variable wind condition.

  • Child weight must be over 20kg and kids under 12 years old must fly with an adult 18 and over.

Do I need to book?

  • Bookings are highly recommended in order to avoid disappointment. You can book early through our booking form online or call us by freephone on 0800 225 520

How long does the trip last?

  • Please allow 1 hour for the round trip. This includes 10 minutes of flying time. The rest of your time will be spent cruising around lake Wakatipu giving you time to enjoy the beautiful scenery Queenstown has to offer.
  • Please call us 1 hour prior to you departure time for a weather check and check in with us on the Main town pier 15 minutes before your scheduled departure time.

What age is considered a child?

  • 15 years and under is our child rate.

Is there a minimum age?

  • Yes – Children need to be over 12 years of age and over 60kgs in order to fly without an adult.
  • Children can fly tandem or triple with an adult once they weigh over 20kgs.

Is there a maximum age limit?

  • No! No one is too old to fly with us.

Where do your trips depart from?

  • Our trips leave from the Main Town Pier in Queenstown. This is at the lake end of the Queenstown Mall in front of Eichardts Hotel.

What should I wear?

  • Please wear clothing suitable to the conditions on the day you are coming flying. On a warm day you can wear shorts and t shirts. Extra layers, such as hats and gloves will be required in winter. Please note we do not supply extra clothing.

Will I get wet?

  • No – You will Fly High and Stay Dry the whole time. Swim wear and towels are not required.

What are your weight restrictions?

  • We can fly up to a maximum combined weight of 200kg (440 lbs). If you exceed this weight limit you will not be able to fly and we will need to alter your booking.
  • For solo flights we have a minimum weight requirement of 60kg (143 lbs).
  • If you have any hesitations regarding weight restrictions please call us on 0800 225 520 prior to booking in order to avoid disappointment.
  • Please note, as we are a weather dependant activity, these weight limits can change depending on lake conditions on any given day.

Is my trip weather dependent?

  • Yes, Queenstown Paraflights is a weather dependent activity and for this reason we ask you to call us one hour before your flight for a weather check. If the weather is not suitable at the time of your scheduled flight we will do everything we can to reschedule you for another time or day.

Can pregnant women fly with Queenstown Paraflights?

  • Yes – Please call us to discuss this in more detail prior to booking.

Can injured and/or disabled people come flying with Queenstown Paraflights?

  • Yes – Please call us to discuss this in more detail prior to booking.

Is there somewhere I can leave my personal belongings?

  • You can bring everything with you on-board the boat. It will be very safe on-board while you are flying.

Can my friends or family spectate?

  • Spectators can come to watch for a small fee of $25. This is on a space available basis and can not be guaranteed until 5 minutes before departure time.

Can I bring my camera/phone/Go-Pro?

  • Yes – you can bring any of these items with you while you fly. This is at your own risk and Queenstown Paraflights will not take responsibility for any lost or damaged items.
